We are pleased to offer Basic and Comprehensive Advanced Cardiac Testing (ACT) from Access Medical Labs.  Heart attack and heart disease are among the leading causes of preventable deaths every year and millions of Americans are affected either directly or indirectly by them.

The Advanced Cardiac Testing (ACT) blood test gives you and your physician a complete picture of your cardiovascular disease risk, and makes it easy, not only to properly diagnose, but may also help in preventing heart disease and help build a healthy heart.

Recent surveys show that few individuals who have experienced a heart attack will tell you that they were never diagnosed with high cholesterol. These individuals may have had a form of LDL that is more atherogenic, increasing their risk of heart disease; small, dense LDL (SdLDL).

Having high LDL cholesterol, otherwise known as "bad" cholesterol, prevents you from having a healthy heart. However, more studies are now finding that it isn't only the quantity of LDL circulating in your blood, it's the quality too. The type of LDL in your body may influence your risk of having heart disease down the road. Small dense LDL is a type of LDL cholesterol that is considered to be an emerging risk factor for cardiovascular disease. It is smaller and heavier than typical LDL cholesterol and can increase your risk of developing atherosclerosis. Having a higher HDL cholesterol or "good" cholesterol can be protective, and conteract an elevated LDL.  A Vitamin D deficiency can also be a contributing factor.

hs-CRP: Elevated amounts of hs-CRP is a response of inflammation in your body and inflammation in the blood vessels.

Homocysteine: Homocysteine is an amino acid in the blood- high levels relate to a higher risk of CAD, higher risk of stroke and PVD.

APO A-1: APO A-1 is a major protein component of HDL. This helps cholesterol efflux from liver excretion. APO A-1 plays a specific role in Lipid Metabolism.

APO - B: The primary apolipoprotein of LDL which is responsible for carrying cholesterol to the tissues. High levels of APO-B can lead to plaque in the arteries.

Insulin: Insulin is a hormone that plays a central role in regulating carbohydrates and fats in the metabolism.

NT ProBNP: NT ProBNP is a break product of the precursor protein B type natrituretic peptide (BNP). Plasma concentrations of NT ProBNP is significantly increased in patients with asymptomatic and symptomatic left ventricular dysfunction.

Lp-PLA2 (PLAC test): The PLAC® test predicts risk for coronary heart disease and ischemic stroke associated with arterial plaques (atherosclerosis). This test measures Lp-PLA2, an enzyme that promotes inflammation inside the arteries, leading to the formation of unstable, rupture-prone plaques.

Vitamin D250H-LC/MS/MS: Fractionated into D2, D3 and Total, Vitamin D is a fat soluble secosteriod. 80% of Americans have a Vitamin D deficiency, putting them at risk for osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, cancer and more.
